The Famous Old Driver of PL2303 USB

Every time we connect PL2303 USB-TTL device to a new computer, we’ve got annoying driver issues and spend so much time to find the working old driver of this USB-to-UART driver.

So we put the required driver link here to find easily next time.

All you have to do step by step is:

  • Unrar the downloaded rar file and install.
  • Open Device Manager and right click the Prolific-to-Serial Comm Port.
  • Click Update Driver Software and Browse my computer for driver software -> Let me pick from list of devices on my computer.
  • Select the Prolific USB-to_Serial Comm Port version 3.3.2.105 model [10/27/2008] from model list.
  • Done!

It’s good to see that it works 🙂

  3. THANK YOU!! I have spent (wasted) hours trying to install a PL2303 converter unsuccessfully until I found your solution. Really appreciated!

  4. This driver fixes what I cant fix with the new and improved version of the driver v 3.9.1 that is supposed to work with windows 11….what i can say is it still doesnt work with it but this version of the driver v 3.3.2.105 seems to work just fine.

  5. Trevor, thats because your PL2303 is a clone. Prolific took measures to brick (in earlier versions) and now to ignore counterfeit hardware.
Version 3.3.2.105 is the last one known to work with clones. (some versions after this one bricks clone chips).

  6. Two computers ago the driver I had worked fine. Reconstituting my setup in a more recent computer using the same OS, i.e. Windows 7, and the same driver, it was a NOGO. Dido for a newer driver, a NOGO. Tried yours, works fine. Thanks for posting.

  7. Oh my fking. This is working.
    Thank you so much!
and for someone out there if you’re having problem with the driver, sometime you need to remove the older driver first. You can get a tool from github for driver removal.
